Governor Seyi Makinde Test Positive for CoVid-19

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). He confirmed this via his Twitter handle @seyiamakinde, on Monday evening. Makinde, who is head of the Oyo COVID-19 task force, said he had handed over his duties in charge of the task force to former Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital, Professor Temitope Alonge. In the meantime, he said he will continue to self-isolate, expressing hope that he will recover fully. “I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate. “I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully. “Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Sonny Echono, who confirmed this to journalists, said the move was part of measures to contain the spread of the disease. Nigeria on Thursday confirmed four fresh cases of COVID-19, bringing the number of people with the virus to 12.

Nigeria impose travel restrictions

Nigeria - The Federal Government of Nigeria is restricting entry into the country for travellers from the following countries; China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Switzerland. These are all countries with over 1,000 cases domestically. The Federal Government is temporarily suspending all visas issued to nationals from these countries. Nigerians arriving from these countries will be subjected to supervised isolation for 14 days. The Federal Government of Nigeria is also advising all Nigerians to avoid travel to these countries. These restrictions will come into effect from Fri 20 March 2020 for 4 weeks subject to review.

Iranian Midwife died of CoVid-19

Iran:We are extremely sad to report that a member of the Scientific Association of Midwifery in Iran has died today of Covid-19. Seyedeh Azamat Mousavi (pictured here) was a mother and a BSc midwife working at a public health clinic in Northern Iran and was responsible for taking care of women infected by the virus. ICM sends its deepest regrets and messages of solidarity to the Scientific Association of Midwifery and its members. We are aware that midwives around world continue to risk their own health and safety to support pregnant women, babies, and their families during this global pandemic, and we want to emphasize the increasing need for protective equipment in countries like Iran. This equipment will help limit the risks of contracting the virus for midwives and other healthcare provides whose safety is just as important as that of their patients. Canadian Prime Minister's Wife tests Positive of CoVid-19

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, has tested positive for coronavirus. Cameron Ahmad, communications director for the prime minster, released a statement on Thursday, saying: "Following medical recommendations, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau was tested for COVID-19 today. The test came back positive. Also following medical advice, she will remain in isolation for the time being. She is feeling well, is taking all recommended precautions, and her symptoms remain mild."  The statement continued that Prime Minister Trudeau "is in good health with no symptoms. As a precautionary measure and following the advice of doctors, he will be in isolation for a planned period of 14 days. Also on the advice of doctors, he will not be tested at this stage since he has no symptoms. "Sharon Ann Lane was born 7 July 1943 in Zanesville, Ohio.  Two years later the Lane family moved to Canton, where Sharon spent the remainder of her childhood.  She graduated from Canton South High School in June 1961 and decided to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse by attending the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing.  She graduated on 25 April 1965 and worked at a local hospital for two years before trying her hand in the business world.  She made it through three quarters at the Canton Business College before deciding to join the U.S. Army Nurse Corps Reserve on 18 April 1968.
