Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). He confirmed this via his Twitter handle @seyiamakinde, on Monday evening. Makinde, who is head of the Oyo COVID-19 task force, said he had handed over his duties in charge of the task force to former Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital, Professor Temitope Alonge. In the meantime, he said he will continue to self-isolate, expressing hope that he will recover fully. “I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate. “I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully. “Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Nigeria on Thursday confirmed four fresh cases of COVID-19, bringing the number of people with the virus to 12.

Nigeria - The Federal Government of Nigeria is restricting entry into the country for travellers from the following countries; China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Switzerland. These are all countries with over 1,000 cases domestically. The Federal Government is temporarily suspending all visas issued to nationals from these countries. Nigerians arriving from these countries will be subjected to supervised isolation for 14 days. The Federal Government of Nigeria is also advising all Nigerians to avoid travel to these countries. These restrictions will come into effect from Fri 20 March 2020 for 4 weeks subject to review.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, has tested positive for coronavirus. Cameron Ahmad, communications director for the prime minster, released a statement on Thursday, saying: "Following medical recommendations, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau was tested for COVID-19 today. The test came back positive. Also following medical advice, she will remain in isolation for the time being. She is feeling well, is taking all recommended precautions, and her symptoms remain mild."  The statement continued that Prime Minister Trudeau "is in good health with no symptoms. As a precautionary measure and following the advice of doctors, he will be in isolation for a planned period of 14 days. GHS explained that current conditions in the city do not warrant an evacuation.  The minority parliamentary group also gave the government three days on Tuesday to evacuate students or deal with the anger of its members.
