JUSTINA EJELONU - A PROFESSIONAL EMBODIMENT by NRS OMOLOLA ADAMS

JUSTINA EJELONU - A PROFESSIONAL EMBODIMENT.

Nursing profession has been regarded as second class citizen in health sector from time immemorial.  Many Nigerian Nurses had lost thier lives while caring for the needy and saving the community from the spread of such dieases. Nurses have been trying all thier bests to be properly placed within health sector team. A typical example is the death of unsung hero : NURSE JUSTINA EJELONU who died while protecting and safeguarding her country - Nigeria. Due to her love and passion for the profession and the country, she lay down her life for saving over 140million Nigerians from the deadly disease - EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE.

This is the highest price an individual can pay to secure the safety of fellow countrymen/women. The society should understand  and feel the impact and role of nurses in the health sector and the country at large. If she decided to look away from the agent of EVD and allowed him to move out of the hospital by safeguarding her life as well other members of the team, she will be alive as well others, without querried. But the impact and the ravaging effects would have been more than tortured and drastic not only on the socio-economic state of Nigeria but the West Africa State. Thus, i pray for immortalization by the Federal Government of Nigeria, West African State( ECOWAS), Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, as well World Health Organization.
Today (14 August, 2014) marks a year Nurse Justina Ejelonu, Dr Stella Adedievoh and others died. May thier gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Nurse Justina Ejelonu is a young, dedicated, selfless, professional embodiment, loving and caring sister, respectful daughter, passionate friend, hardworking as a team member and strong nursing sister advocate.

Justina Ejelonu lives on
