LAGOS NANNM WARN AGAINST LEGALIZING QUACKERY

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA NURSES AND MIDWIVES LAGOS STATE COUNCIL A REJOINDER !

RE: TRAINING OF GENERAL DUTY ASSISTANT, ALSO CALLED NURSING ASSISTANT UNDER THE LAGOS STATE EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT PROJECT.

The attention of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) Lagos State Council has been drawn to an advert trending on the social media on the above subject matter.

I wish to state emphatically that no organisation is empowered to train any cadre of Nursing personnel without the approval and accreditation of such program by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

The Nursing and Midwifery Acts clearly stipulate the procedures to be followed before such program can be approved.

On this note, l want to state that the proposed program is alien to our association and therefore un acceptable.

Training of any health care personnel should be with the support of regulatory bodies.

We therefore urge all well-meaning Nigerians to join in the fight against quackery.
