HEALTH MISINFORMATION BY BLOGGERS DECREASES PUBLIC TRUST

Nigeria - Nursing is a profession guided by ethics and professional conduct. Only an individual that met the prerequisite of the title "nurse" can understand and uphold the nursing ethics. Anybody calling himself or herself a nurse without meeting those requirement is a "quack" or "serial killer".
The story of one "LILLIAN EJIMBE"a self aclaimed nurse is making waves on social media attracting different views and reactions, has once again thrown nursing profession into dustbin. It is imperative and sacrosanct for the online reporters and bloggers to clarify a nurse from a quack. The said "Lillian Ejimbe" has two different Facebook  accounts with different profile. The two accounts has similar pictures of  one "Debbie Anaba". Hence there is possibility of been a " scam". Am aware that some young vibrant nurses had taken up the matter and are diligently investigating the matter.

Evidently speaking, the said "Lillian Ejimbe" was never a nurse because one of the account profile read " started school at College of Health Science and Technology Ijero Ekiti 9th July, 2002. And started a new job as staff nurse at St Gregory's Hospital 14th July 2018. Hence, a nurse is either trained at a school of nursing or nursing department in university. Therefore public should be well informed that the said "Lillian Ejimbe" is an impersonator, and a quack. In this Facebook account she's from Orlu Imo State and lives in Lagos state. School of Health Science and Technology has no jurisdiction nor power to produce a "nurse".

Meanwhile, the said " Lillian Ejimbe 's" second Facebook account showed that she's  single lives in Port Harcourt form Opobo Rivers State, female and single. She's a "nurse anesthetist" at St Nicolas Anglican Church, Aluu, Uniport from April 2014. The question is simple, at what point did church started employing nurse anesthetist? Churches that had hospitals had their names well defined such as Sacred Heart Hospital of Sacred Heart Church, Seventh Day Adventist Hospital of SDA Church, Baptist Medical Centre of Baptist Church just to mention a few.
Both account has these pictures which all belongs to one "Debbie Anaba".

Below are some of the screenshots of erroneous information displayed by some bloggers, confusing the society, on a nurse and a quack or serial killer.

Its actually important to inform the general public on accurate information after a thorough investigation. For some times now nursing has been bastardised by some media, portraying the image wrongly and not upholding ethics of journalism. Disseminating inaccurate information to public is deadlier than Ebola Virus attack. Hence all the bloggers, media outfit should thoroughly investigate issues relating to "nursing" before putting up such vital information that may be detrimental to health care sector. Public trust is needed in healthcare, with this wrong information individuals with such illness will be reluctant to attend hospitals or clinics providing such services on account of lack of confidentiality. Quackery is celebrated while government isn't responding. This is dangerous for the health care system.

I hereby call upon Linda ikeji blog, qed, zinoly, and Gist Naija NG to disseminate healthy information for public use and not sharing information of no adequate investigation. Social media source of reportage should be verified before sharing.
