The Seat is unjust on Justina Ejelonu - Nurse Latifat

Nigeria - One of the happiest day in the life of every woman is the day she gets married. Susan and Elizabeth are bossom friends, more like Siamese twins. Elizabeth was supposed to be Susan's maid of honor but unfortunately her mother has been ill for months, they could hardly pay for drugs let alone pay for dialysis, yes her mother has kidney failure and she needs huge amount of money for the machine (dialyzer)to do the work of the kidney once a week. Despite all this problems Elizabeth assisted Susan with the wedding preparations.

Susan is a fashionista and an industrious woman, she worked hard and saved for the big day, the wedding was scheduled to take place in her village and so all the attires for her and her family members would be sent from the city. Susan's cousin who was bringing the clothes from the city left with high expectations unfortunately his dreams and aspirations died with him in an auto crash, no thanks to the bad Benin Ore road This was heart rendering for Susan's family, instead of rejoicing they were mourning.

On the other hand Elizabeth's mother was battling with her soul on the hospital bed, she has become pale and her condition was getting worse, she needed blood but due to power failure the necessary blood tests required before blood transfusion could not be carried out due to power failure. To make matters worse the emergency ward became busy with twenty accident victims and sadly there were only two nurses and a doctor on duty, when Elizabeth came to check on her mother, she discovered that she had stopped breathing.

Elizabeth lost her mother due to numerous reasons, poverty, shortage of manpower, inadequate infrastructures. Nigeria is a country endowed with lots of human and natural resources but unfortunately Nigeria's problem is overwhelming, epileptic power supply, poor health care services, bad roads, unemployment, insecurity, poverty etc. These problems are affecting so many families and those two(Susan and Elizabeth) are one of them.

The health sector amongst other sectors is in a deplorable state, I strongly recommend that a state of emergency be declared in the sector, working condition is bad, inadequate facilities and manpower has become the norm and this is contributing to the increased mortality rate in the country and the minister for labor  Dr Chris Ngige said we already have enough doctors in Nigeria and that they can travel abroad if they want , clearly he is oblivious to the fact that the health sector is in the centre of chaos or  he's turning a blind eye to the situation. Care should be made accessible to all because not everyone can travel abroad for treatment and even when you travel abroad you will find Nigerian nurses there, talk about brain drain.

The roads, power failure and insecurity should be tackled because it's affecting the health sector directly and indirectly.

Today is International Day of Parliamentarianism, the day celebrates parliament and the ways in which parliamentary systems of government improves day to day lives of the people all over the world.

It also serves as an opportunity for Parliament to take stock, identify challenges and ways to address them effectively.
The day is meant to enlighten the public on issues of concern to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems.

The health sector is in s deplorable state and nurses are not well represented even with the very minute number of nurses in the house of representatives, time we took our destiny in our hands. I was pained when I found out on twitter today that President Muhammadu Buhari gave a post humus award to Dr Adadevoh, what about the nurse?Justina Ejelonu nursed Patrick Sawyer to death and to her own grave, it was her first day at work, she fed him and served his drugs and now she's a forgotten hero but not to me.

There's no better day to remind the government that Justina Ejelonu is as much a hero as Adadevoh, I urge you all to grab your twitter handle, today is international Day of Parliamentarianism, Nurses use any social media as a tool for the parliament to know that a nurse also died a hero during the ebola crisis.

In Nigeria we practice this bicameral chamber of parliament , there are 360 members of the house of Representatives and 109 senators, while these members of the parliament take their seats in the as speakers of the house of representatives or senators have you asked yourself if they have done the needful? Don't wait until 2023 when election approaches start taking stock now.

Let the parliament know that the wealth of a nation depends on its health and the health of the nation depends on the nurses, let's use our population to good use and ROAR on twitter.
