                   Douglas Adu- Fokuo
Ghana - To the average Ghanaian, nurses give injections and assist doctors in providing care to the sick. But that’s not all nurses can do or really do. To the surprise of many, lots of nurses are breaking frontiers in diverse fields across the globe; yet upholding the very old ideals of Nightingale’s nursing.
One of these exceptional nurses making great impact in Ghana and beyond is Douglas Adu-Fokuo. Douglas is a Ghanaian trained nurse excelling in the field of communication both in Ghana and at the international level.
Right after nursing college, whiles he was practicing nursing, Douglas started another journey in the field of communication. While in the Nursing and Midwifery College, Kumasi, 2011/2012, he served as the PRO for the Ghana Nurse and Midwife Trainees Association (GMNTA) – Ashanti and Brong Ahafo zone. The tremendous achievements he made at the zonal level earned him a national position in the same association as the Project Manager in 2012/2013.
Douglas later served as the General Secretary for West African Nursing Students Association (WANSA), an umbrella body that oversees the activities of nursing students across the West African enclave.
After he left the corridors of basic nursing education, Kofi Ghana, as he is popularly known rose to serve as a district PRO for the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), the largest professional association for all categories of nurses and midwives in Ghana; in the Osu Klottey District, Greater Accra Region.

His relevance in the association continues to increase each day since he took office as the District PRO and has won the heart of many young nurses and midwives in the country. Currently he is the PRO for the Greater Accra Regional branch of the association and now the National PRO GRNMA in the just concluded elections.
Douglas is not an asset to only nurses and midwives in Ghana but to the country as a whole. He has worked for the Ghana Health Service (GHS) as a Public Relations Officer and also represented the country and Africa at several international conferences.
Outside his busy professional life, Douglas describes himself as a young assertive man who likes reading leadership and entrepreneurship books. Aside being a nurse, Douglas is a trained journalist as well and recently completed his Masters in Public Health at University of Ghana, awaiting graduation in November. He is single and yet to start searching.
